Empowering Women Through Sustainable Livelihoods

AHF Sri Lanka's Sewing Machine Distribution Program is designed to create sustainable income-generating opportunities for widows, women-headed households, and students pursuing tailoring and dressmaking. By providing sewing machines together with practical skills development, the program enables beneficiaries to establish home-based enterprises and achieve long-term financial independence.

Tailoring is a flexible livelihood that allows women to earn an income while managing household responsibilities. Graduating tailoring students are also supported to transition from training to employment or entrepreneurship by equipping them with the essential tools needed to begin their own businesses.

Beyond improving household income, the initiative strengthens self-confidence, promotes entrepreneurship, and contributes to local economic development. Through this project, AHF Sri Lanka supports communities in building self-reliance, reducing poverty, and creating sustainable livelihoods aligned with the principles of inclusive and resilient development.
