Restoring Livelihoods for Fishing Communities

Fishing remains one of the primary sources of income for many coastal communities in Sri Lanka. Through the Canoe Distribution Program, AHF Sri Lanka supports vulnerable fishermen by providing durable fishing canoes that enable them to safely return to their livelihoods and improve household income.

The initiative focuses on low-income fishing families who lack adequate resources to continue their occupation. By improving access to productive assets, the project enhances food security, creates sustainable employment opportunities, and strengthens economic resilience within coastal communities.

The program reflects AHF Sri Lanka's commitment to empowering communities through practical, long-term livelihood solutions that promote self-reliance and sustainable development.
