A Safe Home for Every Family

A safe home is the foundation of a healthy and dignified life. Unfortunately, many vulnerable families in Sri Lanka continue to live in unsafe, overcrowded, or temporary shelters due to poverty, natural disasters, conflict, and economic hardship. Without adequate housing, families face increased risks to their health, safety, education, and overall well-being. Al-Hikma Foundation is committed to addressing this challenge by helping families build secure and sustainable homes where they can live with dignity.

Our Shelter Project focuses on constructing new houses, repairing damaged homes, and improving basic living conditions for the most vulnerable households. Priority is given to lowincome families, female-headed households, elderly people living alone, families affected by disasters, and those living in unsafe structures. Every shelter is designed to provide a safe, durable, and comfortable environment that protects families from harsh weather conditions while promoting stability and security.

Beyond providing a roof over their heads, the project creates lasting social and economic benefits. A secure home enables children to study in a safe environment, improves family health, reduces vulnerability, and allows households to rebuild their lives with confidence. Through community participation and donor support, Al-Hikma Foundation continues to restore hope by transforming inadequate shelters into places families can proudly call home.
